I couldn't live without my Rainbow! Best I have ever used on carpets and wood floors and linoleum floors and tile floors, especially with dog and cat fur...very expensive but worth every penny...but even better on wood and tile floors is a dry head Swiffer Mop! I love mine terribly!!

Hello Donna, I have to say I find the Dyson one of the best hoovers I have ever had, I live in Spain and in most houses and flat楹搒 there is only tiled flooring a wood floors, %26amp; a lot of rugs so they are very good for everything , dust pet hair楹搒 My daughter borrowed my hoover ,she has a dog and she could楹搕 believe how good it was they even used it to clean the car , and went out the same day and bought one, I have to say I found it a bit hard to use when I first got it , but now would楹搕 be without it so I would suggest a Dyson

A commercial vacuum is the best to buy. You will have to find a store that sells them. Not a department store. They will cost about 200.00 to 250.00 but are worth every penny. Buy a bagless that is easily emptied and you don't have to buy bags all the time. As far as a name brand let the store help you with that.

Vacuum cleaners are not good for wood and tile floors, since the beater bar can damage the floor. There is a cordless rechargeable vacuum made by shark that works well for picking up dog hair on all floor surfaces. The beater bar does not turn as quickly as an electric vacuum so it does not damage the flooring.

The Roomba (a robotic vacuum) is a great choice for people with pets...and has the bonus of turning it on and letting it go...while you're at work, etc. Like any good vacuum cleaner, it's pricey, but no bags to buy, and no heavy thing to lug around!
