Depends on the breed. If you have a double-coated breed, it can help to take the dog to the groomers and have them do a "furminator" treatment, which will remove more dead hair than a normal bath. Also, feed high quality food and brush regularly to cut down on shedding. We got hardwood floors, which cuts down on allergies from dander and makes it much easier to sweep up hair daily. Good luck!

Brushing them daily is the best way to keep the hair where it should be rather than all over the house.

I had 2 wolf hybrids in the past, talk about shedding, my vaccum was always getting plugged up. I finally got a canister Quiet Storm and it worked wonders, not once did it fail.
Good brushing helps too.

If you have a dog you will have dog hair. Frequent vacuuming and changing vacuum filters often is the only solution. Steam clean carpets every other month. That is one of the down falls of having a dog but they are worth it.

Brush your dog every day outside. Bathe your dog regularly. Make conscious choices about fabrics on sofas, chairs, rugs, and carpets, as well as bedding or throw pillows. Also, buy high-end air filters.
Vacuums: Dyson's Animal is pretty pricy, but specifically made to deal with pet hair.
If you have a dog, you're going to have some dog hair in your house no matter how vigilant you are, but you can keep it to manageable levels.
