My dog has lost some hair on his neck, what could I use to stop it?

Is he wearing a collar? Is it on too tight? Have u used frontline or any other flea and tick medication he might be allergit too? is he scratching alot? You should check out all these things maybe he is allergit to his collars material.. Some dogs because of old age get allergies.. Take him to the vets I know he prob dosnt enjoy the hairloss and itching.. :)

if your dogs hair loss is on the back of the neck where flea killer goes? stop the poison. this happened to mine too! i think its the flea killer. too weird to be anything else. same exact spot?

My lab started losing some hair because, as it turned out, she had allergies. We switched her food to a salmon-based brand instead of beef or chicken and that worked. Her coat got fuller and shinier.

My little dog, however, started losing some hair on his face and back legs and got dry flaky skin in those places because he had demodectic mange. I guess all puppies come in contact with this from their mothers when they are born but it only affects some dogs and can be triggered by a lot of different things. We took him to the vet for special dips and, it's taken a few dips and a month to heal, but it's looking like he's getting better.

Since you don't know what's wrong, I would take the dog to the vet, unless you can think of a logical explanation, like a collar or something.
