i've had my first dog(yellow lab) about 2 1/2 weeks...and i think i'm allergic to him! :-(
does anyone have any suggestions for over the counter non-drowsy medications for animal allergies? also, if i give him a bath more often(once a week right now) would that help me? i have always had a severe allergy towards cats, but never noticed one towards dogs. however, i guess since i'm actually living 24/7 with one, it would show up. sigh.
also, my dog's hair is showing up everywhere. how do i control it? my vacuum won't pick up any of it. if i purchase a brush, should i brush him every day to help control it? i just need a few hints, thanks! :-)
What to do about dog hair %26amp; dander?
Sounds like you just really want to get rid of the dog. If you are allergic, you can't be the one who's got to bathe and brush the dog daily, or you will be miserable. You are in for many years of dog-hair EVERYWHERE.
There are roller lint brushes at Wal-mart that are HUGE. That's what we use on large furniture and the carpet. They make many different styles %26amp; sizes of roller brush. Basically it's just backwards masking tape. Works great.
Maybe you can make an appointment to find out for sure if you are allergic, and if so.. are you into taking allergy meds for the next 10-18 years? Perhaps you can get a shot for the allergy, but again, is that worth it for you?
Good Luck.

a lab would not have been a good choice since they are well know to be very heavy shedders....
KONG ZOOM groom is the BEST brush for this type of dog - use is circular motions or have somebody brush him for you... a groomer can bathe and shed the dog out.. this will make a HUGE difference...
the food you give him will impact on his shedding as well.... the lower quality foods like ALL from grocery or Wal Mart have so much filler in them they do not help with skin and coat heath.. go to a pet supply store and look for a better food (in Canada I suggest NUTRAM) - (in USA I suggest Notro natural choice or better -. Innova, Canidae, Wellness)
your doctor can give you allergy shots which are better than over the counter stuff
