Best way to get rid of dog hair?

There's dog hair all over the carpet and rugs in the living room. Even after vacuuming, it's still there.

It bothers me because my son crawls all over the living room and plays with his toys there through out the day. So not only does he end up with dog hair on him, but his toys too.

I know a big solution would just be to keep the dog outside, but it's 1) not my house, 2) not my dog and 3) an "indoor" dog.

Any suggestions?

treat the source. Give the little shedder a table spoon or so of CORN oil every day. Much less if he's a little dog. A lab can have a table spoon, a toy dog maybe a teaspoon. It keeps their coat healthy and keeps them from shedding as much.

Also, brush the dog, its not yours, but no one complains because someone is brushing their dog. Brush it every day. It causes blood to reach the skin, nurishing the hair and keeping it healthy so it doesnt fall out as often.

Second, get one of those rubber brooms, the one that you see "AS SEEN ON TV" at target, billy maze (the oxy clean yelling guy) makes them. They are EXCELLENT for pulling (you pull not push across the carpet) all the hair out of the carpet.

Theyre cheaper than a vacuume.

The hoover vacuume made to be like the dyson works gret too. And costs about 70 bucks.

get rid of the dog, it might cause allergies to you child later on in the future.

Unless your son has allergies to the dog, the hair won't cause any health problems. Duck tape works well on removing hair off of clothes and such. There is a product at the store that you put on surfaces and makes it easier to remove animal hair. I don't remember if it was a powder or a spray.

best idea would be to move out and get a place of your own

give the dog a couple of Paracetamol and that'll get rid of your head ache! no only joking it'll kill the dog... just get a dog comb and comb it every day!

not your dog? then whose dog is it? let them keep it at their house not yours.

You can't really get rid of dog hair. Things that can help:

Vacuum with allergen reducing vacuum bags (reduces dander)

Allergen reducing febreeze

Use Bounce dryer sheets that help repel lint and hair. They seem to work fairly well..

Good luck!

regular grooming and vacuum constantly

I have 4 dogs...so I have this problem...all honesty I got rid of all my carpet years ago...I didn't want my newborn crawling on it. A dog should only really shed excessively when their coat is changed...summer and winter....It is a sign of poor nutrition...so you might want to check into that...but if it's not your dog you can't do much. You can get a blanket made out of ultra suede...best material to keep dog hairs off...dog hairs don't stick. I would lay that on the floor for your son.

Vacuuming wont get rid of the hair. One of those carpet flickers work good...but the best is the round lint brushes (sticky tape). ANd those rubber brooms are fantastic...you would think they were a blessing.

Brushing the dog daily will help....just take the dog outside and brush...depending on the coat it's not that big of a job.

Good luck

A damp cloth rubbed over clothes and carpets will remove most of the hairs..but its a slow process....

Best way to get rid of dog hair?

slow and very tedious, but wiping over with damp rubber gloves

will get rid of loads of dog hair.
