Dog hair........HELP!!!!!!!?

My dog is half beagle half chihuahua. he sheds so much that it is really starting to make me ill. i vacuum almost everyday and there is still hair everywhere. i've taken him to petsmart and had him de-shedded and 2 days ago i took clippers to him and made his hair very short. what else can i do to make this stop before i get rid of the dog that my kids adore. i love him but i find hair on the kitchen table, i guess it floats around in the air. PLEASE HELP!!

Dog hair........HELP!!!!!!!?

Wow and I thought my German Shepherd was bad with shedding. LOL I feel your pain! Have you had him checked by the vet? Even for the breeds, that seems like an excessive amount of shedding, and you should rule out medical causes.

If it's not medically related, then how often do you bathe the dog? More frequent baths may help. I also bought a device called the Shed Ender (as seen on TV, LOL) and you use it as often as you need or want to. It's a comb that will not only groom the top coat but also the undercoat, thus removing the loose furs and preventing them from being shed all over your house. Good chore for the kids. LOL

You should have thought about this BEFORE you got the dog. Both Beagles and Chihuahuas shed -- it's in their nature [genes, whatever]. That's why breeders and other people alike always say to read up on the breeds(s) before you get the actual dog.

That's just what short haired dogs do. I don't think there is any remedy.

WELCOME TO DOGDOM.

there are vitamins you can get at pet supply stores to help with the shedding. i don't know how well they work, so you may want to put a call into your vet for a recommendation.

avoid anything HARTZ.

of my 5 dogs, 2 are snow dogs and i use a furminator on them everyday.

Have you ever vacuumed your dog? It might take a while for him to get used to it, but my dog loves it, so does my cat. You should get a curry comb(rubber, used for horses) and teach your kids to brush him, they love him, tell them the alternative. Having an air filter can help too. You could also get him checked for allergy's,beagles are prone to them.
