How to get dog hair out of a car?

My dad just gave us his car because he is moving out of the country, unfortunately it is filled with dog hair (the seats are leather but it is all over the flooring and fabric in the car). My son is very allergic to dogs - we didn't realize how bad it was going to be. Any ideas as to how to get it all out? We thought about taking it to get detailed but wasn't sure if shampooing the floors would get the dander/hair out? Thanks!

Vacuum the car very well, and use a lint roller with the sticky labels to try to remove the hair from the fabric and carpet before you get the carpet shampooed to ensure all of the dander is gone. After the car is detailed, leave the windows down for a few days to be sure the car completely dries out and to help air out the rest of the dander. Good luck, I hope this works for you.....

Vaccuum as much out as you can. Use lint rollers.

Maybe just try to lay towels or seat covers when they are in there. As for now..the best thing to do is just to vacum it, maybe get one of those stickey rollers

Go to WalMart and get some Static Guard. You'll find it in the laundry section. Spray your seats first and then vacuum. The spray helps release the static cling of the dogs hairs and makes it easier to vacuum out. I do this all the time with my car I have 2 big Golden's.

Why not rent a steam cleaner at the store and clean the rugs your self. They have special shampoo just to get out dogs smell and dander. Save you alot of money.

Getting it detailed is your best bet. They have the best machines for just that, more powerful then anything you would have. It will be like new. Take care;^)

Pet hair is more of a problem in cars with cloth seats. Draping the seat with a towel or sheet is the easiest way to prevent hair from working its way into the seat. If practical, keep your pet in a carrier when traveling in the car. It's safer and prevents shedding in the vehicle. Hand-held interior car vacuums are good at getting into cracks and crevices. Wipe down cloth interiors with a damp towel and use a pet hair roller.

HOPE I HELPED!

Goldengal...........sure wish I had heard of the Static Guard when I had my Dalmation. He had the hardest hair to sweep up and I was forever vacuuming the floor, furniture, and him.

Thanks for the tip.
