Dog hair/laundry - what can I put in the dryer along with my close that will attract dog hair.?

My dogs sleep on the bed and the dog hair is still on the cloths after I was them and put them in the dryer. A fabic sheet does not work. Any ideas?

Depending on the dog, dog hair can 'sew' itself into fabric. The shorter, stiffer hairs will actually go through and lodge themselves in. Much of it comes out in the dryer but only if there is ample room for the fabric to fluff up and let go of the hairs.

For really stubborn ones, I use packing tape (2" wide, clear available at places like Staples), rub it against the hairs and then pull. Repeat.

If they are getting into your bedding, I would put a smooth, tightly woven sheet in between your dogs and any blanket or loose-weave throw. Another alternative is to ditch the blankets and use a down comforter with a sheet-like duvet cover.

Brushing them frequently helps keep loose hairs to a minimum and some dogs don't mind being vacuumed with the thin corner attachment or something similar.

I would make sure you wash the laundry twice. Give it a good shake outside first. And if that doesn't do it (along with the dryer sheet), get a can of Static Guard (near spot removers and fabric softener) and spray the cloths, then shake it out and wash it. Dog hair is the worst thing to try to get out of the fabric since it is so coarse.

The book, How to Clean Absolutely Everything recommends combing and grooming your dog to get rid of loose hair daily to diminish the problem. It also recommends frequent baths and not allowing dogs on the furniture to start with, but I think it would be cruel to kick them out now.

Other tips are at the sites below.

Good luck!!

CLOTHES, that's how it's spelled. Get the freakin dogs off the bed.
