How do i get dog hair off of stuff?

My dog sheds a lot and while we keep him outside a lot, he still is inside for a quit a bit. We brush and wash him regularly, but he still sheds really badly. I vacuum EVERY day, but I still find that stuff in our house has dog hair on it. Such as: socks from walking around in them, the blankets hangin gon the bakc of the couch form him walking by and brushing up against them, our bedskirt from him laying next to the bed. When i wash clothes, a lot of the hair comes off in the lint trap of the dryer, but some doesn't. I have tried using those rolly sticky thingys and this rubber sponge thing. Do you know of a better way to de-dog-hair stuff around the house? I do not want to be one of those gross doggy house people-blech!

First of all, is your dog an Australian Shepard!? Sounds just like mine. After awhile, the sticky tape will become very expensive at the rate you have to use it. You can use a damp washcloth to remove hair from your clothing or other small areas. Also, brush him at least one time every day outside or in the garage. Heavily-haired dogs shed big-time twice a year--spring and fall. Bathing him too much can actually make it worse.

You might also want to take a look at his diet. Sometimes that is the cause. There are some products on the market that are supposed to slow down the hair loss process but I haven't tried them. I just brush and vacuum everyday--yes, you can vacuum him if he will allow it. Use the small floor piece or just the open hose. Be careful not to go around his face, ears or privates.

Use a lint roller. they are sticky peices of paper on a peice of plastic, they handle, and when you roll it along things, it picks up lint, and dog hair, and bassicly anything else. they come with my papers, so when your done with one peice, tear it off and you'll have another fresh clean sticky paper.

i suggest you make your dog wear a sweater to stop the hair from falling so rapidly

wrap masking tape around you hand sticky side out and pat the items the hair will stick to the tape.It works really well but does take sometime.

Maybe change the shampoo you use on the dog. If he can be trimmed, trim his fur. The lint remover roller is supposed to do the job but if it doesn't, get duct tape or something stickier than duct tape and use it like the lint remover to take out hair. When you go to the vet, ask if there's something the dog can use to stop shedding so badly.

I usually take some masking tape and roll it around my hand sticky side out and rub that across my furniture to remove the hair. I've tried all those *gadgets* seen around tv and the stores, etc...none of them have done much of anything for me. The tape seems to have been my best option so far.

Maybe someone will come along with an even better one we can try!

Good luck!!

I got tired of that problem with our dog. We have a small dog, only eight pounds but you would never no it with the hair. Three months ago I decided I had had enough of it so now i put a baby gate up and she is not aloud the run of the house. It has worked out great now there is only one room in the house with her hair.

if you don't have a lint roller you can use a roll of tape.simply pull enough tape off and wrap around roll backwards you can use as lint roller

Try brushing the dog every day. It gets a lot of the loose hair in the brush and keeps it from falling out so much around the house. I have even seen people on tv who vacuum their pets with the hose attachment (only if the pet likes it, of course) haha!

You might want to try an anti shedding product they sell at Pet stores .I have tried it in the past %26amp; it does help .But I gave up %26amp; now just deal with the hair ! Lots of vacuuming %26amp; brushing!

I wouldn't let him on any furniture!

I found a special squeegie at a pet store that works AMAZINGLY well at removing hair from furniture and other items. It is easy to use and you don't have to replace it like lint rollers (which don't work as well any way). It's called "Pet Hair Magnet".

Here's a link to buy one for about 10 dollars: http://www.nationalpetpharmacy.com/store...

Good luck!

You're doing the right things. The only thing I can think is sweeping, vacuuming, and mopping the bare floors more. Also see about some higher-quality dog food: My parents have a beagle that used to shed a LOT, until they did that.

Good luck!

This can be tough. If the fur is stubborn like on upholstery, buy a cheap pair of generic Platex latex gloves and drag your hands downward over and over and the fur will gather to the bottom and be easily disposed of. This may be hard, but keep the dog out of certain rooms and enjoy less work. Hope you find a compromise. Good luck
