It's not the dog hair but the dander in in the dog hair. Just like we have dandruff so do dogs. The dander around the house is like dust and is inhaled which doesn't cause Asthma but brings out the asthma symptoms. Someone with Asthma will have reactions to many things.

My recommendation is to vacuum daily and dust often and that should keep the dandar in pretty good control

yes. it happened to me. i am alergic to both cat and dog. i have severe asthma now and even have a ventilator at my home. i am 32 now. When i was raised my parents and doctors put it down to dust. However i live near a dirt quarry, no prblem until the next doors cat comes over.

Basically, there is a weak connection at best. We have way too much dog hair here but the two babies breathe just fine. Cat hair too.

No. Dog's hair does not cause asthma but if you have asthma already, it may attack your asthma. So, don't let your dog stay in your house, give him separate place outside your house. Vacuum or clean very well your floor (if your dog enter your house) to avoid asthma attack.
