I came home and he has almost chewed off all his hair on his front paws (I also found puke). I know dogs do that due to allergies, but do they chew it off completely? His one paw is almost bare. He has never done this before! And it's not like he's been outside a lot lately cause it's been crappy and rainy. We just switched their dog food about 6 weeks ago to Canidae. I hope it's not that cause they love it and are doing good. Any suggestions/advice? TIA! It's very strange, I've never even seen him lick his paws much.
My dog chewed his hair off on his paws. Why?
Have you considered the possibility of boredom and loneliness? You say he's been stuck inside for the last few days due to the weather. You also say you came home from being out and found him this way and he hasnt even licked them since you've been home with him. The puke could either be the result of swallowing all that hair or just the general stress of the possible loneliness. I doubt the change in diet is the problem considering it was 6 weeks ago and you said they're happy eating it. I've had dogs in the past who are just really sooky, a boxer who used to collect all my soft teddies from my room and cuddle up in them at the end of the hallway when we shut the door to eat dinner, a french bulldog who refused to eat properly when my step father moved out until we gave her to him for the sake of her health. They become very attached to their human companions even when they have other doggie friends, suppose thats why they're called mans best friend!

it could possibling be allergies (benadryl) or it could be his Thyriod and you will probably want to go to the vet and get his T4 levels checked
