my dog os loosing hair and has a red rash on tummy and inside her legs should i be worried she has it a year the vet said its a heat rash but i doubt it.

it does sound like it could be a form of mange, i would definitely look into a second opinion. if it was my dog thats what i would do.

Could be a bit of mange, get some dog wash from the pet store for that sort of problem and see how it goes for about a week

Chicken (and chicken byproducts) often bring on a rash.

It took me several month, and many high vet bills to figure out that my dog cannot tolerate meat. She lost a lot of hair (which has grown back by now) and had a constant rash.

But since she is on vega food, she no longer has a rash.

Probably just has a "hot spot" or two. Change dog food. Feed him a good MEAT BASE dog food. Pedegree and Alpo have too much vegetables and rice. Other brand names are the same and your just paying for the name. Your local feed store will have a good MEAT BASE dog food.

I would get a second opinion. It could be a couple different things, mange or a food allergy or even your dog could be allergic to fleas.

To keep your dog comfortable until you can get your dog to the vet you can give your dog benedrly tablets. They usually come in 25mg pills. Basically it is 1lb for every 1mg so one pill should treat a 25lb dog. It will at least make sure your dog is comfortable and if it shows improvement will prove it an allergic reaction to something and you can start taking the necessary steps like changing food or getting purified water.

This could also be a flea allergy. Many dogs have this reaction to flea bites.

my dog went through exactly the same, she used to scratch, and scratch all the time, she lost the hair of her head behind her ears, under her front legs and also had the rash, i took her to vet, they did some skin scrapes and found out she had dem. mange, it is caused with the immune system bein low, and is really uncomfortable for the dog, take yours to vet, just to check, it is cureable, but does take a long time!!

Try a different vet. Once it became persistent you should have gone back to see your vet to have it rechecked. They're not always right first time.

So many causes this could be it's impossible to come up with the exact right answer for you BUT if it's a heat rash you don't want to be increasing the red meat content. An old friend of mine who worked all his life for the SSPCA used to say that too much protein (what you get from meat) will cause or aggravate skin rashes. Too high a protein level is also bad for kidneys in the long term, especially in elderly or inactive dogs.
