I have a dyson. I love it, though it is expensive. I have both long and short haired dog, and this thing works wonders. there are no belts or bags to change on a regular bases, and it comes apart easily if you have a clog. look for something that doesn't lose suction (dyson is one, there are others also) and have little maintaince, and are easy to clean.
